V8 guys, what gears with 33-35\" tires

whatcha runnin in this tire range? 3.73-4.10 is my guess 4.56 might be too steep. not racing, just fire roads and sand dunes.

4.11 with a 3 speed auto, 4.56 with an overdrive auto for 33-35's and a decent running sm block.

Overdrive is a major factor along with truck weight. A 454 will pull well street or dirt with 33"- OD - 3.73s. Anything less than a big block or a 383 stroker small block would not like 373 w/OD and big tires. A good running small block with 4.10 is a nice combination. BTW, overdrives are not all the same; 700R4 OD is .70 to 1, 4L80E .75 , E40D .71, 518 & 618/47RH (Dodge) .69.

little bit off topic, but maybe fabricator would know. i have a 4 speed stick in my 89 4 banger yota. and was wondering, what the gear ratios are for the 4 speed? and i do plan on swaping the 4 speed for a 5 speed sometime in the future! so if anyone wants to trade and has a good 5 speed, i might be interested, but dont have much money, gotta save up for my tc uniball kit!

stupid people shouldnt breed!

If your running a turbo400, 4.10's will do fine. I have 33" tires on my chevy with 3.73's, and it does fine, the top end is really nice. My friends with 35's and lifts all have 4.56's. I think 4.10's would do okay, but you'd only want to put it into OD when your on the highway. The chevy 4l60e/ 700R4 don't do well with the heat from larger tires.

Just my uneducated opinion......33''s go 4:10 / 4:56... 35''s goto 4:86-5:13 I had the 56's in a f150 with a stock 302 (95) and only needed to click the OD on over 85 on the hiway.......

I'm not sure what transmission you have in your truck. What I don't know about Toyotas would fill a big book about Toyotas. If the 4 speed is an H42 it has a 3.55 1st, 2.29 2nd, 1.41 3rd, 1.0 4th, and 4.72 reverse. If the 5 speed is the H55F it has a 4.84 1st, 2.61 2nd, 1.51 3rd, 1.0 4th, .84 5th (OD), and 4.84 reverse. There are other transmissions, so to be sure you need to identify which one you have.
