That sounds like a great idea! Point to point races are a true test of your whole team. BITD's Vegas to Reno is a great race. We took 1st and 3rd last year in 1/2 1600. Jim, please don't run it during the summer months.
This would be great if it really could happen. Just where are they going to run without all the Mojave National Preserve/Monument hassles? V to B or B to V, we all know what happened to that race, why would this fly? Wemo and Weco pretty much eliminate any speed events outside the current open areas.
I had the same thoughts Martin. I was lucky enough to race the final BtoV in 1989 (even though I DNF'd) and that was an uphill battle trying to get that race finally run. They had to change the course in several spots in order to protect certain species. BtoV is nostalgic and would be a great time if it were brought back to life.
Desert Vipers, the motorcycle club, has been raising money for years trying to get he BtoV back on track. http://www.desertvipersmc.com/B2V.htm
Waldo- Desert Vipers had a showing at the WEMO meetings, They were pushing for a race route from Lucerne to Parker also. Unfortunately, the langauge in WEMO and WECO does not allow any speed events to occur outside the currentopen areas. There was even some fighting that had to take place to keep the open areas out of the grasp of the ESA. The speed limit thing keeps races from happening.
