Well we were unable to make NORRA this year due to our shop expanding. So with a truck ready to go we decided to go race the SNORE Knotty Pine 250 this weekend.

With Snore not having a “vintage” class I signed up for class 7s. Five trucks showed up to the race, which to me is a great turnout for the class.

We ran a great race and got to put some more race miles on the old truck. We were able to come away with second place in the class.

Not to bad for a 30 year old truck, running 30 year old shocks and 100 plus horsepower down to the winner.

Congratulations! The truck looks great except the tires. You should consider racing on Yokohama. As Dave mentioned, maybe test Super Diggers on it.

The truck originally raced on Yokohama Super Diggers, the last few years that Malcolm & Mark raced the truck it ran the 35” Yokohama Super Digger. That was such an awesome tire! I’m 99% sure the way Travis got the truck it was still tuned, valved & geared for 35’s. Since Yokohama does not make the 35” Diggers anymore, the next closest and logical tire is the new BFG 35. So it makes sense he would run them. I like that Travis still runs the Yokohama decals keeping it visually original to when Malcolm & Mark raced the truck.

Trust me I have tried to get some Yokohamas on the truck. Unfortunately they just do not have the tire sizing that will have a good fit. Everything they have for a 15 inch wheel, is either way to short or to wide. The trend in off road tires today is to have a big footprint, where the tires are 12 inches wide. I just do not have the clearance to run such a wide tire. Even the BFG still rubs on the rear at extreme articulation.

So I know what you are saying get a bigger wheel, then the wheels are not correct for the truck. Plus the wheel studs are 11/16 that means I have to try to find a wheel that allows me to drill it out and still be strong enough.
