!983- See the Frontier 500 sticker? That race had only been run a couple times by then. The glass is from a later model funco SS2 single seater. The color says Blue Max so I figured it was one of Dennis's cars, but I guess Bishop could have had it. I thought he had a 2 seat car around then though.
Pretty sure Mike Bishop raced it at the Frontier 500. We watched the first few years of it come through near Weeks, Nevada . Mike had a 2 seat class 9 car after the Funco, which was just a copy of a Funco. The side panels are chopper gun glass and have been lengthened in the front. Almost look like High Jumper.
Well, I think the 9 car was actually a Chenowth. I raced at Hollister and they were racing a 2 seat Chenowth and won class 9 the year they held a race there.
Cool,i was there. Did photos for VORRA and Dusty Times in 91and 92. Mike told me he once pissed in the motor to finish a desert race in Yerrington. Ran low on oil!
I might have helped you load that body. I worked for Mike Bishop from 83-89, then on an off for a couple more years. That was a stretched Funco. I think a Mike lowered the fuel cell and had to stretch it for legroom.
