I haven't raced on a bike in a long time, but I liked using this one:

I clipped one on my back, one on the tail of my bike, and anywhere else that makes sense. It is battery powered so it will always stay on even if your bike is off. Super bright. You can set it to a flash option that is ridiculously annoying to look at, but that's a very good thing. Battery lasts FOREVER.

The Baja Designs light is pretty damn bright. I will say I saw some interesting stuff at this last 1000. 1 guy had 10 or so mini glow sticks attached to the back of his camelback somehow. Another guy looked to have blue LED strip lighting weaved or sewn onto is jersey.

I ran 3 lights on my back.
My primary rear facing light was the same one Brandt_Anderson posted:

It appears the Baja Designs light that BITD mandates is very similar, including pricing. I asked about bike racers lights as a result of silt safety thread. I think it’s a no brainer for us car guys to mount one of these lights on a small pice of tubing that could be used down course to warn of a downed vehicle. It may not be as much of an issue for bike or quad racers, but it would be easy enough to zip tie one to a stick or a branch.
