Things are moving along pretty good.
Little about the 79 Honcho. Rodney inch had it built and raced it for years. i know that Erik Heiden. Rock Bradford, Dick Dahn drove it. im sure there are others if you know anything about this truck. please add.
Bill Savage built it. Louie Unser Built the 401 AMC. it was Tan with brown stripe.
Jeff. Fandango for all the help. I found a left rear fender, hood and front fenders. and a few other hidden treasures. planning a trip to Utoh to get all of it.
Jeff Furrier for the stepside bed. The BUD truck is looking good.
I will keep the up dates coming. thank you for the support. if you have any pics or info please post.
Thank You Dennis
The Water Boy truck was built by Ray Russell (one of the magazines had a pretty extensive article on the build) and powered by a Louis Unser 401. It later went to the Bell Concrete guys, who flipped the baby blue and yellow paint scheme but didn't otherwise alter the look of the rig.
The Mike Giurbino truck was built by Walker Evans. It is in the Phoenix area, I believe, and well preserved, although I think it is all primer gray.
I thought at one point, Ken(?) Bell had a class 4 Honcho with either a mid engine Chevy V8 or something otherwise as wild as that. Wasn't AMC powered, and i thought it was highly modified, Class 4, not anywhere near Class 3 legal. Doesn't sound like the same truck. Maybe that is where the questions about roof come in?
Thank you Fandango. Jeff.
Found some hidden treasures. 1500 mile adventure. Im finally home. Well worth the trip. I always enjoy talking to the pioneers of our sport. Time for some sanding.
