Drill them out from the top with a 3/4" drill bit, the metal washer/nut on the bottom falls right out.

The sleeves are probably stuck together due to rust. There are a few methods available. Drilling them out is probably what I would try second if the first doesn't work..

You take a bolt of the same size (threads) and screw it into the nut that's attached to the washer from underneath. Then taking a punch and a BFH (big hammer) you can sometimes knock out the bottom piece from the top. Or on some it's easier to thread a longer than factory bolt in from the top and hammer it down. If that doesn't work you can always drill it all out. I was able to beat the hell out of them with a big hammer and a makeshift punch and only snapped the little welds on one of the nuts. Try that before you drill everything out and it might save you a bunch of time & $$$. My experience is on an 83' Bronco so a newer vehicle should in theory be easier to take apart.

Portable band saw works the best. Just cut through the rubber and inner metal sleeve right above the top of the body mount perch

We tried the punch and BFH method too and it didnt work. We took a 3/4" piece of tube and ground down the diameter just a little so it would fit down from the top and wailed away with a sledge and it didnt budge. We also tried going through the rubber with a sawzall and it just got all gummed up. Drilling was by far the easiest. Took less than 5 min for each of them because you only have to drill out the very top of the sleeve before it falls out. And this was on a 93 ranger.

Trust MH20 - I just told him that trick when he was putting in some of my solid body mounts on his ranger. I played for hours and tried to get at an angle to cut the things (tried w/ MANY differnet tools), and I twisted the things over and over when doing mine. I finally got a clue and got a drill out, and they were out in a couple of minutes. Steve

My brother is prolly going to make them out of aluminum for him like we did on my truck.

So on the race truck it still has the stock body mounts, right. Is there any down side to just using the stock mounts if the cage is properly connected to the cab and frame? A guy I live by has the stock mounts on his truck, I went to check them out and see how he did the solid bodymounts and cage the other day and he had the stock mounts. I am in the process of a total rebuild cab back and making my truck legal to race 1450. thanks

The wstock mounts can now be removed but we left them there. We tied all of the top [art of the cage and the floor to the tube work. The stock body mount does not do much at all anymore. it is just easy to leve them there. You could spend more time and do it like we did our other Ranger but there is really no point. I will post a picture of how we did it with no body mount in a few days.
