Asking because you might know-
situation-
I look into buying an air fryer. Research. read reviews. do my homework.
Next day air fryers are all over my news feed. I get it. Makes sense.
Day after- I buy one.
The ads for them don't stop.
Why? Wouldnt it make sense for the advertisers to know they won and got my money.
Wouldnt it make sense to now try and sell me something else?
Beats me...perfect exploitation would now offer you the whats next....the answer goes right into purple territory....
I'll keep it brief without blaming people or organizations. Most of you probably dismiss it as crazy conspiracy talk anyways.
Its all very creepy how marketing works. Its psychology where {they} attempt to know you better then you know yourself. Once that happens you can be remote controlled.
Once you have enough data on a person you can predict what they are doing next and suddenly pop up in front of them selling them whatever you knew they where about to buy but they themselves did not know it yet.
Antidote:
1. Don't give them data. Don't leave a digital foot print. Don't use Apps in your phone as many straight up sell your data (see 2000 mules documentary for how that works). Leave your phone home away from where you are as much as possible. Use tracking preventing firewalls (pihole is nice). No voice video recorders around you (home, ring, alexa, siri etc). Don't give them your DNA (ancestor test, pcr tests). No free cloud computing where you become the product (fb, google) etc. on and on... you get the point.
2. Know yourself. Do emotional literacy exercises (best advise I would give a younger version of myself). Meditate. Don't drug/alcohol. Participate in life.
What is RDC doing to secure our audience?
We use google for many services because it works very well. We are in baby step de-googelizing this website. Its time intensive. Inconvenient and expensive to do. hence we do it one layer at a time. For example we stopped using dropbox for our file sharing and switched to open source software Nextcloud that emphasizes on privacy of your data. There is no active social media tracking on RDC. All SM share links are passive. Often where you see the Facebook share button it is an active tracker of FB. Here it becomes active only once you yourself click on it (pssss...do not !). We also don't share our email lists (common in this very industry by others). Its not perfect and absolute...instead a direction we are heading towards.
Adsense at this point is a necessary evil. They track your every click, move, audio and video and custom tailer ads for you.
