Every couple of years, there is one of these threads. So who makes the best truck today?

Geiser has clearly been the most successful shop. But are they still the top choice?

Jimco? Mason? ID? Camburg? Smith/Herbst? Racer Engineering? Jefferies? Brenthel?

It depends on which one Andy is driving this year......

Really though, it's hard to say because the drivers and prep seem to be what it comes down to these days.

I don't know if there is a "best" TT, there are a lot of very good ones (Jimco, Geiser, TSCO). But Class 1 and Class 10 - Jimco and Alumicraft respectively.

Definitely agree. Alumicraft Dominates class 10 (obviously) and Jimco is my vote for best class 1, but best TT is a different story. Any one of the TSCO, Geiser, Jimco, Mason trucks have a Chance of winning at any time. Big time TT guys run on such a high/competitive level it takes SO much more to win then just a well built machine.

If you go off results, 2016 Baja 1000 Geiser 1st/2nd, 2017 Baja 1000 Geiser 1st/2nd, 2018 SF 300 Geiser 1st/2nd, 2018 Baja 500 Geiser 1st, 2018 Mint 400 Geiser 1st/2nd.
2017 Score TT champion Geiser 1st, 2nd/3rd
2016 Score TT Champion Geiser 1st
So based on results its the Geiser.

Define 'best?'

Best = the truck most capable of winning the Baja 1000. Not the driver most likely to win. But the truck (the hardware) that is the most capable of winning the 1000.

For example, in Formula 1, Mercedes clearly had the dominant car for many years (and Red Bull before that). Any driver that you put in the Mercedes had almost an unfair advantage over the rest of the field. Who makes that TT today?

The difference between F1 and trophy trucks is that the top teams don't always go from A-Z and do everything in-house on a truck.

IE
-Engine Tuning
-Shock Tuning
-Electronics
-Prep

It is hard to attribute success or potential to win of a truck with a builder. Rob Mac makes geiser look good, but prep is done by Blackmore, shocks were tuned privately. With that being said, it seems like TSCO has rolled about a pretty damn good package with a somewhat spec Fox setup, prep and pitting done in house, plus I have heard their trucks handle phenomenal out of the box so that would be my vote.

Out of all the trucks that are winning or in the top 5. How many of them. Other than probably Andy's new truck, are the same S they were received from the builder? I bet all of them have been modified in some form or fashion to fit the drivers driving style.
That goes back to prep and tuning.

Don’t those results just suggest that Rob Mac is the best driver?

Then it should read 14, 15, 16 and 17 Baja 1000 1st place. :) Even though Rob didn't win in 17.
And 17 and 18 SF 250 1st.

So then does that suggest that Geiser with Rob behind the wheel is a hard combo to beat.

I would say RPMs trucks are the only ones since geiser does all their prep.

The thread was Best TT Today. I figured 2.5 years back was good. I am sure all the different TT manufacturers have their good points but results is where its at. The best drivers and teams have done the homework and chose what they chose for reasons that work the best for them
