In light of the BLM not issuing permits for SNORE Laughlin, and last night's abhorrent government shutdown of the SNORE private property race in Primm, what are the odds of any scheduled races actually taking place in January? Anyone have some insight on this?

May be wrong but I thought I read Laughlin was moved as the PITS where on Clark County Land and Clark County has all shut down?
Hmmm, hadn't heard that... That may be the case but I have heard that BLM is not issuing permits. I hope I heard wrong and we will be able to race.

Nov 13th from Snore
Unfortunately Clark County is not permitting SNORE to use their land at this time due to Government Covid Restrictions in place. But don’t fret, SNORE has a back up plan in place! Keep your eyes peeled and ears open, we will let you know as soon as possible! We do plan to hold the original dates of 12/10-13!

Just got this reply via email from Liz @Legacy about their Jan 7th race:
"We are little concerned as well but our advantage is Pahrump is Nye County. We still have to follow the groups of 50 but we are working hard with the Pahurmp Nugget as well as Nye County to follow all the rules and regulations.

We will keep everyone posted as we hear updates from those we are working with. Know that if we do have to cancel we will tell everyone as soon as we know anything. I don’t think being shut down last minute will be our problem but we never know with Covid."

Fingers crossed...

KOH is 100% on.

Doing my best to loosen the covid plan.

Here is the bottom line. We will be on razors edge of being good to go without testing.

Problem is I need to pull the trigger on tests 30 days in advance...which is practically now.

And those tests cost 800,000 to buy.

If I buy them in advance and we need them, the nominal unit cost gets rolled into cost of entry, which we are working on making $0. If we arent required to use them, I own 800k of garbage.

Anyone hiring? Im looking for a career change lol

The upside, we (team effort) get to work our butts off to hear how the solution is drive by the gate and let someone else pay the bill...its funny how the internet hard line conservatives become socialists if they can save $40. ;)

My god. That is one hell of a predicament to be in. Is there enough people there to cover that if 30% participate?

I drove 5 minutes from my house to the local community college to get a test today. Never got out of my car. It was a drive through set up in a parking lot. I was home 30 minutes later. Total cost- $0.00

This was very easy to handle on my own.

Same for us. We previously had COVID and we did the free drive through testing through CVS or Walgreens. Was super easy and our site had same day results.

Reality, sorry, will hurt a few feelings
Covid numbers will get worse, California and Nevada with their (over)reactive government, the holiday season spread could be worse than what happened during Thanksgiving, anyone betting on January and Feb for events better wait for the numbers post holidays. All it will take is one health dept staffer to make a fuss and everything will go to poop. Till the hospital bed counts improve, poop isnt happening in the PRC........

Is the $800,000 what it takes to have test on site for all potential attendees?

Could we work with a large medical organization like Red Cross, to set up a public test site close to Boone Rd? A site for people in the local community/public at large to be tested, where perhaps KOH attendees could get it done if they dont have the right paperwork? So that org could assume the test availability? Or reimburse/partial reimburse for the unused tests and used at later dates/sites?

any thoughts of having races on reservation land? They have their own laws :D
Yeah, they do and are on lock down... the biggest reservation anyway.

What army comes to shut down these events? My brother and I run a seasonal business and if we received a fine we would never pay it.

Come to Havasu and let’s race . This Covid stuff is a bunch of bs.. don’t need comments on how many it’s killed ....... I get it ....... affects everyone differently but the numbers are not close to accurate . I had it and I have had hangovers that are worse . Hats off to Dave Cole and his team for working through the difficult stuff to make it happen for KOH. Nevada is horrible .

I've said it on other sites.
I would HATE to be the BLM Ranger(s) trying to tell 50k drunk bastards (at KOH) in shitboxes that they need to go home.
I'm goin' camping, and volunteering, and looking forward to a great time. Period.
I'm also going to verify what the width of the Right Of Way is for the highways heading in. In case CHP is ordered to shut things down.
Plenty of trails paralleling the roads. Out of the ROW, no jurisdiction.
Let's party
