For 2009 XDP Performance has teamed with Bully Dog Technologies to attack the off road racing scene. At the last Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series event in Elsinore the XDP struggled a bit during the races but showed great promise.

Their lead driver, Kent Brascho racing in the Unlimited 4 class, he is a regular guy just like all of us. He works his tail off during the week so that he can afford to go off road racing. This has made him a fan favorite over the years. However that one thing missing is a win. Kent shows great truck control and good speed however the elusive top spot on the podium has remained out of reach. The Elsinore race unfortunately was no different. Kent came out in both races swinging, at one time he had a huge 4 second gap on the driver in second place. However mechanical gremlins hit the XDP truck during the race and thus out of contention.

The second XDP truck runs in the SuperLite class, a new class to off road racing that allows drivers to participate without taking out a second mortgage on their house. At the last race in Arizona, UTV racer Corry Weller drove the XDP truck to a 5th place finish which was a great run considering she had no practice time behind the wheel before the race weekend. In Elsinore the truck had another popular driver, professional skateboarder and Sirius radio personality Jason Ellis. Leading up to the race Jason talked a lot of smack on his show about how well he was going to do. Once at the track his attitude quickly changed. He soon realized that racing has a lot of ups and downs. Unfortunately Jason did not make the race due to an issue with the trucks rotary engine. For Sunday he came out swinging and ran very good in the morning practice/qualifying session. Once the race started Jason showed good speed but he struggled with the gear box at times and missed a number of shifts. At times he ran as high as fourth place battling with class regulars but in the end it was not to be and Jason had to park the truck before the checkered flag.

It was not a great weekend for the XDP drivers but this being only their second weekend involved in off road racing and showing the promise they did, the podium must be on the horizon and the next race is just 2 weeks away.

The guys at XDP are great people - and it's awesome to have them jump into off-road racing with both feet!! Good luck this coming round - here's hoping for some podiums!! :)
