The great american off-road race is officially here and was kicked off today with the 4 Wheel Parts vehicle procession powered by Odyssey Battery.
130 race vehicles lined up at the legendary “Welcome To Las Vegas” sign and were escorted in front of thousands of people lined up along The Strip here in Las Vegas. Bringing off-road racing to the masses is one of the goals of The Mint 400 and parading down Las Vegas Blvd in front of the public is definitely one way to get peoples attention.
The premiere class of The Mint 400 the Trick Trucks were in full force but all classes were represented from UTV’s, 6100 trucks, 1600 cars, stock truck, vintage cars, Trophylites and everything in between. From 90 horsepower to 900 horsepower the echos of exhaust bounced off casino walls as if to announce the arrival of The Mint 400.
Robin Leach, best known for hosting the TV show “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous”, is the Grand Marshal for The Mint 400 and led the procession down Las Vegas Blvd co-piloting a restored orange and yellow Ko-yo-te buggy that was part of the inspiration for the race 50 years ago.
Unique to any other off road race in the world, The Mint 400 gives racers the chance to drive their vehicles down one of the most famous streets in the United States. The procession took race vehicles from the Welcome to Las Vegas sign all the way to downtown Fremont Street at Atomic Liquors for the official Mint 400 kickoff party.
This is just the start, The Mint 400 will continue to take over Las Vegas all week! Be sure to follow qualifying live tomorrow on Race-Dezert.com/live to see who will start first on race day! All the info at http://www.themint400.com.
