The 2018 Dirt Series Season has come to an end. We had our best racing ever happen this year! New racers, new friends, great battles and just some overall great racing! With that said our race year also weathered, pun intended, Mother Natures obstacles. Wind, Rain, heat all played a HUGE factor in this years season. As a result of some of these natural factors thrown at us we began to figure in ways for everyone to still have a chance at competing for the overall end podium placement. Then the final round was upon us. Points battles were still undecided and the Double Points Rd was another HUGE factor. We split our last round to 2 days to help create a little more fun for the whole weekend. Give the 2 wheel racers their own day and the 4 wheel racers their own day. Then the rains came down to the point where we had no choice but to cancel Saturday Dirt Series Day 1 which was just the dirt bike classes. The rains stopped about mid day of Saturday and allowed for us to get the track dialed in and at least get Day 2 racing in. But the cancellation of Day 1 still loomed.
Double Points round affected EVERYONE as well as the possibility to drop a round.
The 2 wheel racers didn’t get the opportunity to battle, the 4 wheel racers did. Do we drop a round even though the 2 wheel racers didn’t get a chance to race? Do we leave it as is and finalize the season with 9 races completed for the 4 wheel racers and only 8 races completed for the 2 wheel racers? We also have to consider that we have a 6 of 9 races competed to qualify for the end of the year podium! This leaves us in a very unique situation that i hope everyone understands! Our decision is not going to made overnight as we will continue to put all our heads together as well as possibly reach out to determine what would be best for the racers, best for the series and best for everyone involved.
We hope that everyone can be patient during this process as we make sure we have looked at all scenarios to best determine the overall outcome. No, this is not rocket science and yes, its just racing but, we do want to be fair as well as consider everything and everyone.
Again, thank you to everyone who came out this season and for your patience on our end of year situation.
