2018 NORRA Mexican 1000 Day 3

Rise of the Rock Donkeys.

After three days of racing the team of Mark Post, Jesse Jones and Ed Herbst hold a comfortable 34 minute lead over second place Ryan Arciero in the Bob Gordon Chenoweth DR2.  Jesse and Ed drove today as Mark watched them wheel the famous Riviera Trophy Truck.  Mark likes to be first on the road as it lets him control the pace of the race.

Jesse Jones was first on the road again and kept a comfortable lead all day.

In a surprise to many Ultra 4×4 drivers Dave Cole and JT Taylor continue to move up the overalls.  On stage 1 out of Bahia de Los Angeles Cole was just 1 minute behind Post and team 30 miles into the stage.

Four wheel drive gives them a distinct advantage with traction allowing the, to gain time out of the corners.  Today’s stages featured many twisty WRC style roads which favored the four wheel drives.

Cole is currently 4th overall, 43 minutes behind Post.

Taylor earned a 1 hour penalty that dropped him from 15th to 57th despite running in the top 10 today.
