16th Annual White Mountain UTV Jamboree
The White Mountain UTV Jamboree – Memories for a lifetime!
Imagine this: small town America overrun by approximately 200 UTV’s and 300 people. A place where deer, elk, wild horses, wolves and hunters roam (do not forget about the bears). Cowboy UP Hay and Ranch Supply, a local feed store is buzzing with customers. The local Walmart is Western Drug & General Store, where you can buy everything from camping supplies to diaper cream. The town feel is welcoming and on a weekend like this, all local stores run out of ice (just a head’s up).
The event was held August 19-24, 2020 in Springerville and Eagar Arizona, a place where two towns meet. If you have never been to eastern Arizona it is a must do, especially from the comfort of your UTV. Driving into the area your visual is simple living, 2 lane roads, farmland and rolling hills. The true magic happens when you explore the dirt roads. The views are truly amazing filled with trees, lakes, rivers, rocks and many other mystical hidden things. Old homesteads, dilapidated barns, and rails to fallen corrals speak wild west. The fun of challenges along the trails from fallen trees to mud holes from the storms the night before. Never a boring moment or view to be had.
This Jamboree certainly does not disappoint. Arizona Off Road Promotions puts on this event once a year and they work tirelessly to make sure everyone has something to do all day, every day. They would not have it any other way. Sponsored by Nash Powersports and Demer’s Glass. All entrants receive a free T-shirt, swag bags, 4 breakfasts and 3 dinners. The food this year was presented by several of the local restaurants and was on point.
Rides daily range from 30 miles to 100+ miles. Your guide leader and tail gunner will make sure you are safe and see some impressive country. The rides are for every level of UTV riding. Choose wisely and have a different excursion daily! Do not forget about the night rides, this year sponsored by R1 Industries, who also gave away whip lights at the end of every night excursion.
When the riding is over you can all come back to the fairgrounds, also known as the “blue building”, the central hub daily for everyone. There are raffles, cornhole tournaments, auctions, food, friends, family and the fun of the Miss UTV Contest. This year’s winner of the contest taught everyone what the bump and go is. An auction was held to help raise money for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Over $5,000.00 was raised, this gets better every year.
This year’s new favorite would have to be the Blind-man Obstacle Course. One rider is blind folded and the other has to give directions. This is quite comical to see. The Poker Run leads you to many of the town’s restaurants and local favorite hot spots. Drive around, grab a card and turn in a winning hand. This was our favorite and it was impressive to watch the participants give back to the community.
Fun was had by all for a week, in a place many do not venture to. People from many states joined in on the fun. Come join the fun at next year’s event. Experience it for yourself. A place to make memories for a lifetime! Contact AZOPracing.com for information on all upcoming UTV events.
