Alumi Craft Podium Sweep In Arizona And Eliott Watson Wins LOORRS Triple Header

Chandler, AZ

After winning three races during the Wheatland triple header, Alumi Craft Pro Buggy Racer Eliott Watson continued his Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) winning streak with an unbelievable six straight victories which marked his spot in the LOORRS history books by winning the most consecutive Pro Buggy victories. Stacking up the wins and sweeping the weekend at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, Eliott was joined on the podium with competing Alumi Craft Racers Darren Hardesty (Round 6) and Trey Gibbs (Round 6 & 8).

Watson’s impressive performance was complemented with two Optima Batteries Fast Lap Awards and a Round 6 Top Qualifying Lap. The 2019 Pro Buggy Champion stretched out the points lead and may have just confirmed a second straight championship.

LOORRS Officials elected to host only 1 qualifying session, which featured Watson’s #1 Alumi Craft with the quickest lap time of 50.376 seconds and a top speed of 71.463 MPH.

For Round 6, Watson made the winning pass for the lead on Lap 8 after a long battle with Matthew Brister in the #5 Pro Buggy. Darren Hardesty finished in 2nd and Trey Gibbs in 3rd for an all Alumi Craft podium. Eliott commented, “I watched Brister the first half of the race looking to see where we could capitalize and get by and just looking for any opportunity to pass. We moved up after the competition caution and stuck it for the lead. I am stoked to be on top for an all Alumi Craft podium sweep. It does not get any better than that.” Watson scored the Optima Batteries Fast Lap Award with a quick time of 45.547 on Lap 9.

Eliott continued the streak in Round 7. After starting on the second row, Watson moved into a position to challenge the race leader Brister, who was again contending for the win. Eliott chased Brister for 13 laps and was able to finally seal the deal as he passed for the lead with the white flag coming out on the front stretch. “It’s hard to win 2 races in a row, let alone 5,” Watson stated from the podium. “We were in the right place at the right time. We have been putting in work off the track and all of that pays off when you get on the track and you are out front the whole time. I am so stoked to be up here doing this, especially after we were not planning on chasing points this year. I could see the tire going down. It’s a bummer for Brister but we had a fun battle going. This Pro buggy class is super fun. Everybody is so fast and it’s even better when you are on top.”

Topping off the weekend sweep with a Round 8 win, Eliott bolstered his chances for a 2020 Pro Buggy Championship. “We made it 6 race wins in a row today with a 3 round weekend sweep. We have had to work to make these wins happen and I can’t thank our crew enough for putting in the time and effort to make it click. With two rounds of racing left in the series, we are hungry to finish it off on a good note at Glen Helen Raceway in a few weeks!” Eliott stated.

Competing racer, Trey Gibbs finished on the podium again in Round 8 with 2nd place in the #15 Alumi Craft who is trailing Watson in the Pro Buggy points standings. Trey commented, “It was a very eventful weekend but I was able to pull it all together and land on the podium twice. These Alumi Craft Pro Buggies are unstoppable.”

In Off Road Racing, the difference between winning and almost winning often comes down to mere seconds and millions of variables that are looking to take you out of the race.
