Greg Gartner flipped his #410 Trophy Truck off the start line at the 2011 Flinders 450. On the eve of the 2013 event in Baroota SA, Gartner reflects on that scary moment in this video.
Returning to the Australian Off Road Championship in 2013, the Bentleys Cabin Park Flinders 450 on this weekend (July 27-28) marks the mid-point of the hotly contested AORC season. Two different event winners have graced the top step of the podium at the first two rounds and the race is now on at the top of the leaderboard.
Heading the charge will be the winners of round 1 in WA, Shannon and Ian Rentsch in their #33 SR Racing Jimco who will go toe to toe with the King of the Desert, Hayden Bentley, who took victory in Round 2 at the Tatts Finke Desert Race in his #18 Racer.
The events home at Baroota, just north of Port Pirie in South Australia is one of the countrys’ longest established off road racing tracks with over 40 years of history under its belt. In 2011 it received a major facelift to make it one of the benchmark venues for both competitors and spectators. The traditional track featuring the famous berms and caverns now loops close to the state of the art pit facilities and spectator area on a number of occasions, with a spectacular series of jumps and whooped out sections of track showcasing the high performance of the offroad racing machinery entered.
The event kicked off on Friday afternoon with scrutineering, with the cars hitting the track for two days of offroad racing action. For more information visit www.aorc.com.au orhttps://www.facebook.com/AustralianOffRoadChampionship
