Best drivers on dirt race the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway May 27-28
Season opener for TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL
FORT WORTH, Texas (May 23, 2016) — The high-flying action of short-course off road truck racing brings the best drivers on dirt to The Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway May 27 and 28 for the season opening doubleheader of TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL.
“We’re thrilled to return to the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway for our season opening races,” said TORC Series director Ben Nelson. “We can’t wait to bring our fender-to-fender, no-holds barred action back to the amazing fans in the Lone Star State.”
This weekend’s action takes place on a purpose built track at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway, which is transformed for TORC Series racing to include a huge jump that will see trucks fly 130 feet through the air, a challenging 200-foot rhythm section, and 12-degree banked turns. The series brings in some 550 truckloads of dirt and works for seven days to construct its specialized short course off-road racing track.
AMSOIL driver Scott Douglas is back to battle for championship victory in the highlight PRO 4WD category, while stars including Keegan Kincaid and Brad Lovell return to the series this season in PRO 2WD. The young guns of the hotly contested Atturo Tires PRO Light include Luke Johnson and Kyle Hart.
Full points races in all three top pro classes take place both Friday and Saturday evening, with gates opening at 5 p.m. and starting ceremonies at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets start at $20 for adults and just $5 for kids. Entry to each race is offered at $10 for active and retired military personnel who present a valid military ID at the ticket window.
The season opener also marks the start of the series’ expanded live digital event coverage in 2016. All 13 rounds of the championship will be presented in HD this year, with 2.5 hours of live racing presented at every round on www.torcseries.com. Full coverage begins this Friday and Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
Tape-delayed television programming of the TORC Series airs on FS2, with exciting 90-minute shows slated for Thursday nights in primetime beginning June 9.
