Lake Elsinore, Ca. (Oct. 22, 2014) – As the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series draws close to its final weekend of racing for the 2014 season, BFGoodrich® Tires enters the finals rounds with the intent to win. Championships are still in reach for BFGoodrich drivers who will race under the lights on Friday night and then again Saturday morning for the final round.
BFGoodrich driver Sheldon Creed has seen the podium 10 times this year throughout the season in the Pro-Lite class. With a 14 point lead, Creed will have to hold off his fellow competitors in order to claim the overall LOORRS Pro-Lite Championship. This young driver has proved to the veterans of the sport that he has talent behind the wheel and is looking to further his career in short course.
It was already a stacked field in the Pro2 Class, but with Menzies Motorsports taking their program back to the Lucas Oil Series at the start of the year, it was known that Bryce Menzies was going to charge hard to show that he has what it takes to race against the best in the series. Menzies quickly walked away with numerous podiums and has now set himself up for a good fight for the championship. Menzies is 77 points behind Pro2 point leader Brian Deegan. Two more rounds of racing will give Menzies a fighting chance.
Off-Road Veteran and 2013 LOORRS Pro2 Champion, Rob MacCachren is not going to give up on his hunt for a Pro4 Championship. MacCachren finished the 2013 season 3rd in points in Pro4 and now in 2014 he sits just 40 points under to Kyle LeDuc. Ten podiums and one win this season shows that it just may be possible for MacCachren to power his Pro4 to that championship.
Another well-known legend, Ricky Johnson will be pushing MacCachren come race day. Sitting 58 points down to LeDuc and 18 points down to MacCachren, Johnson is not going to let up on his right foot until he has crossed that finish line and there is no more fight left to fight.
Championships can be handed out as early as Friday night if results see fit. After the two final rounds, you can watch the Challenge Cup taking place on Saturday night. Pro2’s will battle against Pro4’s, Pro-Lites will go against their own with such a staked field and Pro Buggies will race in their own cup race as well.
