Brandon Arthur Takes Pro 2 Rookie Of The Year Honors

Chandler, AZ

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) has officially come to an end with the Round 9 & Challenge Cup finals. Driver Brandon Arthur of the #6 MAVTVStronghold MotorsportsPro Traffic ServicesToyo Tires Pro 2, was able to climb up in the points and earn the “Rookie of the Year” title. This accomplishment was a challenging feat, as the LOORRS Pro 2 division features the most elite competition in the sport of short course racing.

Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona, hosted the event with a full day of racing and attracting a full house of spectators. Arthur had plans to leave his mark and end the season in a big way to improve his overall ranking in the Pro 2 division. He did just that with a 5th place finish in the Round 9 series final and a 6th place Pro4/Pro2 Challenge Cup. Brandon was officially ranked 6th in points for Pro 2, which earned him the prestigious “Rookie of the Year” accolade.

“It was a good weekend to finish off the season for the team,” Arthur stated. “I had a pretty good truck all weekend. For the last points race, we qualified 4th, which was not bad, but not where we wanted to be. I didn’t get the best start, which resulted in a lot of battling to do during the race. I made up a few spots and then just ran out of time trying to cut through the 410 Trucks (Pro 2M). I ended up coming home with a 5th place finish and earned the “Rookie of the Year” award.

The Lucas Oil Challenge Cup ended out the 2019 LOORRS season with a big bang. For the first time, race officials would start the event in three staggered starts beginning with the Pro 2(M) trucks, then the regular Pro 2 class and finally, the Pro 4 trucks to rip through the field. As you can expect, it was chaotic and exciting from start to finish. Brandon made a solid run at it in the MAVTV Pro 2 and ultimately finished in 6th place.

“The cup race, we got a terrible start and were pushed to the back,” Arthur explained. “So, I had a lot of work to do for the whole race. The Pro 4 trucks ended up catching us quick, which put us back even further in the field. From there, I did my best to run a clean and fast race. I put in some serious hard laps to make up some ground at the end and was able to come home with a perfect truck. I think I owe this one to the quality performance that these Toyo Tires Open Country MT offer. It was my first cup race, and we stayed out of the carnage to bring home a perfect truck with all the body panels still on it and ended up in 6th place with only three Pro 4s up in front.”

Brandon continued, “It is not the best way to the end the year, but I ended up 6th in the points. We have a good truck and can start focusing on next year. Overall, it was a great weekend for our team, taking down “Rookie of the Year” and an excellent first full season. I am proud of what we did and pumped on what we are planning for next year. Now it is time to focus on the Baja 1000, and racing a SCORE-International Trophy Truck with the Vildosola’s and Stronghold Motorsports to finish out the year racing. After that, I will start testing for LOORRS 2020!
