Pro 4 – On a hot day at Speedworld in Surprise, AZ, Carl Renezeder stole the show today with some excellent driving. For the Pro4 race all eyes were on points leader Rick Huseman, who qualified at the top. After the inversion, Huseman started from 6th with Ward, Renezeder, Cenni and Kyle Leduc at the front of the pack. The race got off to a rocky start with a crash backing up the field and causing a restart. Right from the start it was clear that Renezeder was in top form as he quickly took the lead. Amazingly he led the rest of the race with a flat front tire. Huseman ran into some issues and wound up with a flat and finished a lap back. The remainder of the race was fairly uneventful, with Karl keeping his lead for every lap while Cenni and Kyle Leduc followed.
1st – Renezeder
2nd – Cenni
3rd – K. Leduc
ProLite – The ProLite race got under way with Marty Hart, the points leader in the Lucas Series on the pole and in the lead. Brian Deegan ran into engine trouble within the first couple of laps and pulled out of the race. Unfortunately for Hart, he ran into engine problems just before the mandatory yellow, and just after the restart he pulled aside and let the pack through. Brandt, Stevenson and Liodice were the leaders at the point and aside from a few moments of Brandt and Stevenson pushing each other for position, that was how the race finished.
Pro2 – Carl Renezeder had his finest moment of the day by holding off Rob MacCachren for the win in the Pro2 class. Bryce Menzies led for most of the race starting from the poll, but late in the race he was passed by Renezeder and MacCachren. Bryce had a tight race for third with Greg Adler’s 4WheelParts vehicle, but Greg rolled in turn 4 trying to pass Bryce and DNF’d. Carl and Rob had a great battle for the lead, with Rob pushing hard for a pass on Carl, and Carl using every trick in the book to hold him off. In the end Carl managed to hold his lead and take the win.
