Wilmette, IL (May 11, 2009) – The two truck PRO-Light team of Federico Racing is ready for the TORC season opener at the Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway. Steven Federico will be at the helm of his #24 Toyota Tacoma, while Lee O’Donnell campaigns the #23 Toyota. The two drivers have been teammates for a few years now and had their best season to date in 2008. Federico finished the season championship second overall, while ODonnell was on his rear bumper, ending the year in third place.
We have been traveling together for a while now, noted Federico. Originally it was to save on some of our expenses to go racing, but last year we really fed off each other. We worked together sharing technical information with each other as well as working in tandem with our sponsors. In 2008, the two drivers landed on the podium twelve times including two wins. The 2009 season looks very promising for the two veteran drivers, except for the lack of outside funding the team is faced with, due in part, to recent economic conditions. Federico has several strong associate partners, but a title sponsor would assist with the teams expenses. Thanks to the Professional Drivers Group and AMSOIL, the team is getting some of its travel expenses covered for the first event in Texas. The team plans to compete at every Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL event, but needs marketing partners to make the final two West Coast events. Undaunted, Federico and O?Donnell believe they are the perfect match for a company looking for new markets to aggressively present their product or service to one of the fastest growing motorsports in North America. As stated, both trucks are slated to run the entire series, but Lee ODonnell has suddenly found himself with a scheduling conflict with his other profession, Monster Truck driver. For several years, ODonnell races a Monster Truck throughout the country, during the off-season.While ODonnell is in Central America, super sub, Mark Krueger will be behind the wheel of the #23 Toyota Tacoma. Krueger is a veteran PRO-Lite driver with a real strong background with suspension setups, very able to keep the Toyota with the leaders of the division. Mark was the teams suspension specialist in 2008, and you would often see him driving either truck in practice fine tuning the suspension, which was an important part of the teams success. The truck maintenance between races on the two trucks is handled by Chris Hanson (Federico) and Case Gunderson of Race Fab (O?Donnell). The crew chief for Federico is veteran A.J. Satenstein, and Chris Hanson will assume the same responsibility for ODonnell.Federico Racing thanks all their associate partners that are committed to the 2009 season including:Invisible Glass, (just signed at press time), P.F. Changs, Mechanix Wear, Racing Optics, Toyota Racing Development, Lost Dunes Golf Club, and Phil?s Inc.Several longtime partners are still negotiating with Federico Racing, and more announcements will follow soon.Steven Federico and Lee O?Donnell still have marketing opportunities available for the 2009 Traxxas Off-Road Championship Series presented by AMSOIL.
