FANS FLOCKED TO THE INAUGURAL FOUR WHEELER ADVENTURE EXPO, SECURING ITS PLACE AS FOUR WHEELER’S NEW FLAGSHIP EVENT IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Exhibitors Report Strong Sales From A New Audience Of Enthusiasts Entering The Overland, Camping And Adventure Travel Market
El Segundo, CA (March 12, 2020) – MotorTrend’s launch of the new Four Wheeler Adventure Expo in Southern California March 7-8 was met with strong attendance and rave reviews from fans and exhibitors alike. Ten thousand spectators and 120 exhibitors visited the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA to be a part of Four Wheeler Network’s new flagship event.
“There was such an incredible turnout for this inaugural event that we’re now looking at how to further meet the enthusiast demand in the Southern California market. It’s clear that there is a need for quality events blending outdoor, off-road and the active lifestyle communities and we’ve just gotten started,” said Four Wheeler Group Content Director Sean P. Holman. “The outdoor and active lifestyle communities see their four-wheel drive vehicles as the facilitator of their next adventure, creating a tremendous growth opportunity into this crossover market for the off-road industry.”
The event’s Adventure Education series hosted classes and seminars to prepare attendees for upcoming adventures with photography, nutrition, active lifestyle, camp cooking and responsible land-use workshops hosted by top adventure experts including overlanders, rock climbers, hikers and more. Fans were inspired by films in the ICON Vehicle Dynamics Adventure Theater watching purposeful adventurers from the 5 Point Adventure Film Festival and the incredible overland journeys featured in Expedition Overland’s “Great Pursuit Series.”
Attendees shopped for clothing, gear and equipment in the vendor midway featuring 120 overland, off-road, camping and active lifestyle companies. Exhibitors donated thousands of dollars worth of products for fan giveaways all weekend. The event also featured a demo area where fans could test and tune the latest mountain bikes, fat tire bikes and e-bikes before making a purchase on-site.
“The event exceeded our expectations as we didn’t know what to expect from the first Adventure Expo” said Ali Sedaghat, Director of Marketing for KC HiLites. “The thing that stood out to me the most was the quality of the attendees. They were enthusiastic, at varying levels with their off-road/overland builds and had a high intent to purchase. We’re looking forward to next year’s event.”
Fans were encouraged to bring their own adventure rigs, motorcycles, vans and more to display as part of the show. Four Wheeler editors awarded Editor’s Choice awards to the top five rigs of the show.
Event organizers, Lodestone Events, have plans for expansion for the 2021 event including the use of additional indoor pavilions and outdoor space to accommodate expected exhibitor growth. The Four Wheeler Adventure Expo will be held March 20-21, 2021 at the OC Fair & Event Center. Tickets and exhibitor booth space will be on sale later this year.
