LAS VEGAS – (March 26, 2009) – After a fierce online competition, in the end it all came down to one lucky lady, when Ali Kossler of Anaheim, CA, was named the 2010 Miss General Tire Mint 400.
Since the start of the contest in February, a record number of Miss Mint hopefuls registered to be Miss General Tire Mint 400 on www.generaltire.com. Visitors to the site voted, and Kossler was crowned during the kickoff event Thursday night on the main stage next to the Golden Nugget Hotel at the Fremont Street Experience.
“We had such a great time bringing back the Miss Mint Contest last year, and this year, the results are just off the charts!” said Dana Zamalloa, manager of PR, General Tire. “This contest is a great addition to an already stellar weekend race event.”
Kossler won the popular vote on the website. The runners-up, sisters Maria Baldi and Michaelene Baldi of Cherry Valley, CA, were selected through an interview process with the rest of the Top 10 vote-getters, Zamalloa added.
Miss Mint 400 will appear at the General Tire Mint 400 Fan Fair & Tech Day on Friday, March 26th and will help start the race Saturday, March 27, 2010. In addition to being the centerpiece of all Mint 400 activities, Kossler also receives $1,500 and a personal photo shoot.
In its heyday, the Race was famous for celebrity drivers and the Mint 400 Girls, and each year Miss Mint 400 was crowned. Over the years, the title was given to a number of famous models, including Linda Carter (Wonder Woman) and “Wheel of Fortune” letter-turner Vanna White.
