7/10/2010 – The 4th round of the Glen Helen Off Road Racing Series was filled with heat and excitement. Hosting 10 different classes from Trophy Karts to full size 1450 desert trucks Glen Helen had it all. As of June 2010 Glen Helen along with Arizona’s ASCC were designated Lucas Oil Regional Series which brings added excitement to the venues. These series will be used much like Nascar’s Bush Series allowing racers to come and get seat time while still being treated to an organized and competitive race series. Bob Beyer and his staff at Glen Helen put on a heck of a show with a fun track layout and the weather reminded all in attendance that summer time was here.
[singlepic id=6575 w=320 h=240 float=left]The race events were held in MX format providing for one morning practice followed by a land rush start 1st round Moto and wrapped up in the afternoon with a 2nd land rush start Moto. Endurance proved to be a factor in this format and in this race event. Vehicles were required to complete anywhere from 14-17 laps depending on class which proved to be much more than some vehicles could handle. After some early morning endos and even an end over flip by Trenton Briley in his modified kart, Bob and his crew took out a roller in the middle of the track that seemed to be causing all classes grief.
In all the racing was fun and the turnout was better than round 3. We look forward to seeing the new track which is being built at Glen Helen Raceway for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series rounds 9 and 10 on August 6-8.
Round 5 of the Glen Helen / Lucas Oil Regional will be held on Saturday August 28th so make sure to mark your calendars and come out and enjoy some awesome racing!!
