Every facet of a Jimco-built chassis is a combination of history and innovation; a result of four decades of experience handcrafting championship off-road racecars. Inspired by the popularity of the legendary Trophy Truck class, the Spec TT platform was conceived as an intermediary between the limited and unlimited truck classes. Modeled after Jimco’s championship Trophy Truck chassis, the 6100 Trophy Truck Spec is the culmination of 40 years of race-winning experience and is delivered competition-ready.
When 2018 SNORE Class 10 Champion and loyal Jimco car owner Fred Hatch was ready to take on the ultra-competitive Spec TT class, he once again called on the artists and engineers at Jimco to design, construct, and deliver the next masterpiece in his collection. Last December, Hatch Racing took delivery of their new truck at the SNORE Rage at the River in Laughlin, Nevada. With no testing time due to bad weather, the Hatch Racing Spec TT finished third – straight out of the box in both the Unlimited Sportsman and 6100 Truck classes.
The Hatch Racing Spec TT features many of the same components and abilities as its iconic counterpart however the stock sealed GM LS3 engine and Gearworks 3-speed Turbo 400 transmission package provide a relatively affordable option compared to the unlimited class trucks. Jimco’s lightweight and nimble Spec TT chassis design combined with GM’s LS3 power plant delivers an uncompromising performance-oriented machine while also maintaining the competitiveness that made this one of the fastest growing classes in the desert.
For this build, Hatch Racing chose 3.5-inch external bypass Fox Shox in the front and 4.4-inch external bypass Fox technology for the rear providing an agile and dynamic suspension package with 26-inches of front and 36-inches of rear wheel travel. The cockpit connects form with function and features everything needed to win – MOMO Mod 07 steering wheel and handcrafted Larry Storck/Zoom Factor carbon fiber dash housing fitted with dual navigation and communication systems – Lead Nav, Lowrance HDS7 & HDS9 GPS and 50w Kenwood Radio and PCI Intercoms.
Safety and comfort are always a priority in racing. Impact’s full carbon fiber HS1 seats were selected to achieve both, offering 14-inches of hip containment, paired with Impact’s latch and link harnesses featuring QSR adjusters for a quick and customized fit. Weighing in at just 13.5 pounds, Impact’s HS1 carbon fiber seats are constructed from 100% epoxy reinforced carbon fiber and are purposely engineered to withstand the torsional stress and abuse inherent to off-road competition. Uniting traditional exterior design with modern styling, the Hatch Racing Spec TT features the latest FORD Raptor-styled body with a personalized Hatch grill insert. The contemporary lines are complemented with a distinctive reflex blue and fluorescent yellow graphics package designed by ZLT Designs.
Lighting the way is the ultra-slim and durable XPL-S Halo Series LED Light Bar and LED Light Cannon Pods by Vision X. Producing over 19,000 lumens and up to 2,000 feet of usable light, the Vision X LED lighting system ensures a consistent lighting pattern when it is needed most. Completing this race truck are 17-inch Method Race Wheels and 37-inch Tri Ace Tires.Fred Hatch will be piloting the No. 91 Jimco Spec TT in the Unlimited Truck class while his daughter, Taylor Grabow, will make her Class 10 debut in the No. 1053 Jimco chassis in the 2019 SNORE Series, starting at this weekend’s 50th Annual PCI Race Radios SNORE 250 in Jean, Nevada.
