Jim Beaver prepares for Hometown race in Parker, Az
Another season of racing is getting ready to take place and many will start to make their way to Parker, AZ. for the Best In The Desert, Parker 425. For Jim Beaver, this means returning to his home town. The race will take place on Saturday February 7th with pre-race events starting on Thursday.
Beaver will take to this course for his 15th time and will also have a new look to the #15 Trick Truck. Ford and Jim Beaver have been working together to debut the new 2015 Ford F-150 body for the truck. With a new look may come some new luck for Beaver. Three 2nd place finishes have put Beaver close to a win in his hometown.
With a long line of family history in racing, it was in Parker, AZ where Beavers Grandpa and Mickey Thompson who started the original Dam 500. This race then turned into the Parker 400 and is now today the Parker 425. The Beaver family has taken more starts at Parker than any family in history and has competed continuously in the event for 40 years The race has grown and the events surrounding it have shaped the Parker 425 into one that even locals can come out and enjoy.
Nearly 100 race vehicles will qualify on Thursday and afterwards many teams will make their way to downtown Parker to participate in the Parker Pit Crew Challenge. Jim Beaver and The Down & Dirty Radio Show put on and produce the challenge which is now in its third year. This event pits the best desert racing pit crews in the world head to head to determine who is the best. The challenge will bring out 1000’s of locals who will get to watch and also get to meet drivers and crew.
On Wednesday Beaver will have the truck at the PAACE Youth Center and will be signing autographs for the local kids from 3-5.
