NORRA’s 1000 Miles of Stories –
Featuring RORY WARD
AGUA DULCE, CALIF. – NORRA’s “One Thousand Miles Of Stories” video series continues this Thursday, September 24, after 5 p.m., with the spotlight on Rory Ward. Be sure to tune in on the NORRA Facebook fan page here: https://www.facebook.com/NorraFanPage. Rory has a story for every one of those One Thousand miles. He talks about many of his firsts; his first trip to Baja, his first race, and his first NORRA Mexican 1000. Rory is always entertaining, but he is also one of the notable few who should be lauded for finding, and saving several vintage race cars. NORRA “Celebrates the Past, While Forging the Future,” so it’s crucial to save the cars and trucks that icons of our sport drove in the past. Those vehicles are a bridge to the fondest memories of the racers who drove them, and those who witnessed them in action. NORRA is a competition, but also a living tribute to the birth, and continued progression of off road racing; it is a totally unique event.
The race travels all the way down the Baja Peninsula with varied terrain every day, and stops in unique towns every night. After each day of racing, you can do any maintenance needed on your vehicle, grab some great food, and then join the party. We celebrate the day, and recharge for the next day’s stage. Remember, although the racing is serious, the goal is to have fun; it’s not a torture test. Many people make note of the incredible spots they pass on the trip down, so they can spend even more leisurely time at those favorite spots on the way home.
You can sign up today and join in on all the fun and adventure. There are classes for all types of motorcycles, UTV’s, vintage race vehicles, modern day race cars, and trucks; even a safari class for daily drivers. Everything you need to know about the Mexican 1000 can be found at www.norra.com. Go to the site and find out for yourself why NORRA has exploded in popularity. You can experience the same wonder and sense of achievement those early thrill seekers sought in the 1960’s. Join NORRA in Baja for the Mexican 1000 on April 23-30, 2021. Don’t miss out on the fun. “The Happiest Race On Earth!”
Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.
Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.
NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, RIGID, Multitool USA, Satellite Phone Store.com, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, The Fab School, Schampa, K&N, Baja Bush Pilots, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
