Octane Junkie Travis PeCoy looks to Gain Momentum at Glen Helen

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series heads to Southern California for Rounds 9&10 at the legendary Glen Helen Raceway where Octane Junkie Travis PeCoy looks to make the charge for a Modified Kart Championship.

Going into Rounds 9&10 Travis PeCoy has led the championship points battle for the majority of the 2014 LOORRS season and has seen the podium four times, two of them being first place victories. After a disappointing weekend at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele Utah, Travis PeCoy currently sits second in the LOORRS overall points championship.

“We just had an off weekend”, commented PeCoy. “Utah was frustrating because I know what our team is capable of and we struggled to keep our championship points lead… but, we have put that weekend behind us and we’re super pumped to be coming to Glen Helen, its my “home track” and its where I feel most comfortable” PeCoy went on to say “Its going to be super hot throughout the day but luckily Action Sports Canopies has us covered which will really make a huge difference when we are trying to cool down after practice.”

Glen Helen Raceway is known for some of the best racing that takes place on the LOORRS circuit. Although Glen Helen is one of the shorter tracks in the LOORRS series it still allows for a ton of passing opportunities and with that comes a ton of action. Rounds 9&10 will take place at night and under the lights, although, the Modified Kart race will take place first thing after opening ceremonies making visibility a true undertaking as the sun goes down.

“To be honest I’m not totally worried about the sun factor, Oakley has us so dialed and I know the track like the back of my hand I don’t think it will be a problem. I’m going to Glen Helen to win, I have no choice if I want to make this championship dream come true, “mentioned PeCoy.

About Travis PeCoy:

13 year old Travis PeCoy has been around racing since his early diaper days. Father Bobby PeCoy is an experienced Pro Buggy driver with a strong history of placings in the old CORR and the current LOORRS racing divisions. Travis gained interest early on and jumped in eagerly to the Junior Kart division. After some years of on-track education, young PeCoy found his way to the podium and eventually winning races. After a stellar 2012 Junior Kart season, PeCoy-Racing decided it was time to move up to the even more competitive Modified Kart class. With a bright season ahead of him, and some fast lap times to boot, Travis has full focus on his new race truck, which seems to get faster every race.

Each race is a complete family experience with Dad Bobby calling the shots, Mom Tina handling operations & hospitality, Big Rick keeping the truck dialed in and a whole host of friends and family coming together for support.

2013 has seen early success with Travis back on top of that familiar podium position, as well as appearances in some new avenues including the Robby Gordon Stadium Super Truck series. Oakley has chosen Travis to be one of a limited number of supported drivers in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, along with FMF Racing promoting Travis as a featured young upstart in their new “Octane Junkies” collection.

When Travis is not burning laps, he’s splitting time between football, lacrosse, hanging out with a great group of friends and capturing all forms of racing action through the lens of his own camera.
