Preston Campbell Digs Deep for Final NHHA Round!

NHHA Rd 7, Johnson Valley, OHV – 100s MC

Desert racing is alive and well! As 360 competitors took to the starting line this past weekend in Johnson Valley OHV. The race consisted of 2- loops. Loop 1 was a very speedy 39 miles that took the racers Eastbound through “Hammer Town” and back through the main pits at Soggy Dry Lake. Loop 2 was a rugged, rock infested trail with challenging single track through the hills to North Anderson before returning to the finish line at Soggy.

Preston Campbell and his CRF450X started well in the top 5 at the end of the high-speed Bomb Run. Unfortunately for young Preston, he clipped a bush in the dust and went down hard. Remounting with vengeance, he caught the lead group by the Main pits coming through in 6th place. After a quick top-off of VP Racing Fuel and fresh 100% goggles, Preston left fired up, battling for a podium position. In the heat of battle, he tagged a rock, going down hard and tore his right elbow viciously open. Fueled by adrenaline and his drive to win, Preston remounted yet another charge to battle his way to a 5th place finish on the day and 6th overall in National Points for the season.

“It has been a great NHHA season for Preston stepping into the Pro division and showing his mettle. This was his 5th top 5 finish of his rookie season. The speed, strength, and desire are all there. This year he gained the experience he needs to battle for a championship in the future.” — Johnny Campbell
