The dust did more than soar for Johnson’s opponents at Friday’s heart-pounding BITD race – it consumed them. The Team General Tire Trick Truck driver left his contenders in a cloud of dust as he took an incredible 3-mile lead. He held his position strong, battling through the desert’s rugged terrain and remaining at the head of the pack at mile marker 355.
“This was an awesome race,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing, General Tire. “This was a dominating race for Rick; he took the lead early on and his determination to finish on top never wavered. For everyone here at BITD Vegas to Reno, it was an incredible show! We’re so proud of Rick and we’re thrilled to have him as part of Team GT.”
Johnson has a winning track record as the overall winner at the 2008 BITD Vegas to Reno race, first place at 2009 SCORE Baja 500 and third at the 2010 SNORE Mint 400.
Johnson takes first in Trophy Truck and first overall.
“The General Tire Grabbers hooked up all day and the crew did an awesome job setting up the truck and running flawless pits,” said Rick Johnson, driver/owner, Team 71. “Vegas to Reno is definitely my race. This race in 2008 was my first big win and I am so happy to repeat as overall winner again.”
