Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the SCORE International Baja 1000, Robbie Pierce is getting back behind the wheel of the No. 30 SCORE Trophy Truck. As the former owner of MasterCraft Safety, Pierce actively tested and promoted his products in the desert and short course through MasterCraft Racing. After acquiring Impact Racing in 2010, Pierce stepped back from racing and moved to Indiana to focus on reinventing Impact. That seven years of dedication brought to market innovative new helmets, race suits, and other safety products for not only off-road racing, but open wheel, stock car, and drag racing as well. The purchase of Impact and MasterCraft Safety by Sparco this past summer has provided Robbie Pierce with the time and resources to return to the desert. Thus, MasterCraft Racing is now 30Racing.
“You never forget Baja,” Pierce reveals, “your love for it just goes into remission.” Pierce made some calls to his friends and it wasn’t long before he had the old team together to race the 50th annual SCORE Baja 1000 this upcoming November. “We have always used the best products, so it isn’t surprising that the people at BFGoodrich, Jimco, Walker Evans Racing, Baja Designs, Fox Racing Shox, TSCO… the same people who were at the forefront a decade ago are still are the forefront of innovation and winning races.” Pierce noted.
The No. 30 SCORE Trophy Truck and Raptor prerunner are both currently at Jimco being prepared for battle, and Mike Julson of Jimco fame is not only making certain that the trucks are sorted out but will be sharing driving duties as well. The 30Racing Trophy Truck will even wrapped in unique blue Jimco livery exclusively for the 50th anniversary of the SCORE International Baja 1000 race.
The 30 Racing truck will be wrapped in special blue livery for the Baja 1000.
For a race spanning from Ensenada to La Paz, prerunning is the difference between success and failure. In addition to the Jimco-built luxury Raptor prerunner, Pierce and Julson will be studying the course in a new Polaris RZR XP1000 Turbo that Jimco has outfitted with a custom cage, Fox shocks, BFGoodrich tires on Walker Evans wheels, and an assortment of Baja Designs lights.
Pierce and Julson will be joined in the 30Racing truck by Greg Shapiro and Barry Karakas, and outside of the truck Crew Chief Ricky Lee will lead a full complement of Baja racing veterans from 30Racing, along with support from TSCO, to keep the Trophy Truck moving down the course. While all eyes are currently on the upcoming Baja 1000, expect 30Racing to be in the desert on a regular basis in 2018.
