Round #2 of the 2012 General Tire TROPHYLITE Series is heating up and heading to the historic Best in the Desert General Tire Mint 400. Currently, there are 19 TROPHYLITE R4 Trucks entered and one TROPHYLITE R8 Truck. The combined 20 truck entry list is the largest ever for TROPHYLITE and should prove to be respectfully challenging.
Troy Messer is coming off a big win at the Round #1 of the General Tire TROPHYLITE Series that took place at the Best In the Desert Parker 425. Messer, the 2011 General Tire TROPHYLITE Points Champion dominated the series in 2011 and continued where he left off in the start of 2012. Trying to disrupt Troy’s momentum coming into the Mint, General Tire has placed a bounty on Messer for the Historic 400 mile race. The team that can best Troy for the win will receive four 33″ General Tire At2 Race Grabbers.
The Mint 400 is considered one of the toughest events in off road racing to date. Veterans Steve Hengeveld, Gary Messer and Ramsey El Wardini will be looking to conquer the brutal loop course that lies before them. All three are veterans of the sport and look to employ their experience to take them to the top of the results.
The Mint 400 will take place in the deserts just south of Las Vegas, NV where luck is always needed to come out on top. Ben Abatti is looking for a little luck after displaying a spectacular performance at the Parker 425 until a last lap mechanical issue dashed his hopes for a win. Abatti starts in the back, but plans to move up to the front in a hurry
Newcomer Chas Dana placed a strong second place in his debut TROPHYLITE race at the Parker 425. Look for his speed and consistency to pay off big for him at the Mint. The young Sourapas brothers hail from a legendary racing family coming out of Southern California. In 1985, their father Steve Sourapas was the first person ever to overall the Baja 1000 in a limited class vehicle. With Steve’s coaching and vast experience, look for Brett and Christian to be up front at the end of the day when it counts.
Alaskan native Lance Wells has rented the TROPHYLITE house truck for the second time in two years. Wells is seeking his fortune, not in Alaskan gold, but in the $50,000 purse provided by the 2012 General Tire TROPHYLITE Series.
