Ruppel Looks to Repeat as Stock Truck Champion

Chetek, WI (May 11, 2008)  Eric Ruppel, driving his #837 PHILSINC.COM Art Carr Transmission BFGoodrich Tires Fords F-150, wants to repeat as Stock Truck Champion in the newly formed Traxxas Off-Road Championship Series presented by AMSOIL (TORC). After several years in the division, the 2008 season saw Ruppel finish on the podium ten times, which included four wins, four runner-up finishes, two third place spots, and the World Championship title.  Before moving up to another class, Ruppel and his team want to go back-to-back with the Stock Truck Championship.

Before last year, we were building momentum with truck and the team, noted Eric Ruppel. We would win a race, then have a mechanical issue, then find the podium a few times, them some other issue would come up. Last year Kramer (Kent Kramer) and Ewert (Mark Ewert) really worked hard at setting this truck up before we got to the track. Every time out I thought we had a chance to win. Keith Steele also played an important role with the team, as well. Keith gave some insight to suspension setups and putting me in the right mindset when it came to go racing.
In 2009, the new sanction body, TORC, has opened up the rules in the suspension area and the engine cooling department. The rule changes will allow the Stock Truck to turn faster laps than in the past. No matter what rule changes there are, everyone in the Stock Truck division will be gunning for the white and blue Phils Inc. Ford F-150.
The upcoming TORC season has almost all of Ruppel Motorsports marketing partners returning to support the quest for the 2009 TORC Stock Truck Championship. This year, Trail Ready Products, stepped up their involvement by supplying the team with beadlocks for the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain tires.
I have been very fortunate to have product partners like Phils Inc., Art Carr, BFGoodrich, Halama Synthetics, and Optima that have supported our Stock Truck program from the beginning. They allowed us to improve our program every year, to where we finally brought home the championship, remarked Eric Ruppel.
The first weekend of racing in the Traxxas Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL – Sportsman Series begins June 20-21 in Crandon, Wisconsin.
