Team Honda Racing Ridgeline Claims Victory At The Mint 400 In Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV
Known as “The Great American Off-road Race”, The Mint 400 is often referred to as the most prestigious and challenging Off-Road race in the United States. This annual four-hundred mile marathon nestled in the foothills outside Jean, Nevada is known for large tire puncturing rocks, long sandy uphill sections and whoops for miles.
Team Honda Racing Ridgeline arrived in Las Vegas with confidence from their latest test session and was ready for battle. Coming off of their win at the season opener in Parker, Arizona, Team Honda is awarded the pole position in class while starting in rows of two. As the green flag dropped just after 6am, Team Principle and Driver Jeff Proctor with Navigator Evan Weller took the hole shot and headed out onto their first of three laps. Within the first three miles and just outside the infield section, Proctor and Weller encountered a flash fire under the hood. Quickly evacuating the race truck, they were able to extinguish the fire, assess the situation and continue racing.
The Ridgeline Race truck was settling into a groove by Race Mile 53 and Proctor and Weller began to work their way through some class 10 traffic while leading class 7. By the end of the first lap, Team Honda had a comfortable 32 min lead on P2. After a quick pit stop for fuel and rear tires, Proctor and Weller headed out for Lap 2. “This Ridgeline race truck was on rails all day. Our General Tires were so tough out there as we didn’t have a single puncture the entire race. This entire team worked so hard and was flawless in the pits” said Team Principal and Driver Jeff Proctor.
At the conclusion of Lap 2, Navigator Evan Weller stayed in the truck while Proctor jumped out and Pat Dailey took the driving duties for the final stint of the race. “Evan set this truck up to win in the race shop and he is even better calling the race in the right seat. We couldn’t race at this level without his commitment to this Honda program” Said Proctor.
Pat Dailey once again drove a flawless lap and extend the lead in the closing miles of a very rough Mint 400 loop race course. Dailey has proved to be the right driving combination for Driver Jeff Proctor as the two have racked up five wins in the last 7 races together. “ Jeff, Evan and I have found our rhythm together in the race truck and in the race shop. Our driving styles complement one another and it seems to be the key to our success.” Said Team Manager / Driver Pat Dailey.
After a brutal 6 hours and 18 minutes, Team Honda Racing Ridgeline crossed the checkered flag in dominating fashion to win the most prestigious Off-Road race in the United States. “Our day couldn’t have gone better. This Ridgeline race truck was flawless, our pit stops were on point and I didn’t have to get out of the Navigators seat all race…. I couldn’t be happier with this whole team” Said Navigator Evan Weller.
Team Honda logs two wins in two races to kick off 2019 as they set their sights on Baja California, Mexico and the SCORE Baja 500 course on June 1st.
Team Honda Racing Ridgeline is supported by Honda Racing / HPD, General Tire, FOX, Baja Designs, KMC Wheels, STEEL-IT Coatings, Sparco, Eibach Springs, NEO Synthetic Oil, RPI Racing, PCI Race Radios, AEM Air Filters, Pro Eagle, JE REEL Driveline, MPI Innovations, and Trayco.

About Jeff Proctor / Honda Off Road
Jeff Proctor grew up surfing in Southern California and like most American kids played traditional stick and ball sports as well. The allure of racing was sparked from his competitive nature, but it wasn’t until starting his first business, an action sports clothing brand in his college dorm room, that Proctor was able to buy his first motocross bike and begin his lifelong journey in off-road racing.
Today, Jeff has embarked on his most ambitious chapter of his race career – Partnering with American Honda on a Honda Performance Development (HPD) – Powered Factory Off-Road Racing Initiative. Jeff will not only pilot a custom Honda unlimited Twin Turbo off-road race vehicle but also direct and oversee the team’s entire race operation. Jeff will lead his team and Honda to the podium, bringing more high-level race teams to the exciting sport of off-road racing.
