TORC – The Off Road Championship is set for the 2012 season opener at The Dirt Track of Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday April 20th and Saturday April 21st. The Dirt Track is the setting last July which saw the PRO 4 Championship battle come to a head, literally, with a mid-air collision ending with Ricky Johnson landing on top of Johnny Greaves, only to have both trucks continue the battle for one more white flag lap with wheel – wheel action and Johhny besting Ricky for the podium win. Charlotte fans witnessed TORC off-load racing for the first time in 2011, and TORC’s return to the hub of motor racing has many fans already making plans for another weekend of epic racing battles.
The Charlotte race weekend will be held in conjunction with the Food Lion Autofair, an annual event across the street at the big oval of Charlotte Motor Speedway where literally over 100,000 attendees will visit the more than 11,000 vendor booths celebrating Classic Cars. The TORC event will be an evening event which will complement the scheduled daytime activities of the Autofair.
The PRO 4 class is once again led with the largest names in short course off-road racing, with both Ricky Johnson and Johnny Greaves returning in 2012 to battle for the Oakley championship hardware. The field will be packed with challengers, as Scott Douglas along with brothers Mike and Mark Jenkins return with their own title stakes to claim. Crandons Podium sweep of all three PRO 4 races on Labor Day weekend has Adrian Cenni and teammate Steve Barlow entered into the TORC Championship for 2012 to defend their Crandon domination.
