Mohave Valley, AZ. November 6, 2009: On November 19th, Racers Only motorsports will compete in the worlds most toughest off road race…..The SCORE TECATE BAJA 1000. Over 325 entries are expected. Racers from 34 states and 12 countries, in the nationally-televised granddaddy of all desert races. The Racers Only entry will start all the way back at the end of the field (well, almost the end) in the Sportsman Buggy class (#1448). This year’s Baja 1000 is a loop race, starting and ending in Ensenada.
The race car, also known as the Trophy Truck Killer (TTK), will be making it’s Baja debut with Racers Only motorsports. After a strong season, Racers Only wanted to go out with a BANG and the only way to do that is with a win at the Legendary Baja 1000. The TTK has been torn down to the frame, every piece gone over with a fine tooth comb, all suspension parts Magnafluxed to check for cracks, shock rebuilts, new bolts, bearings…….the list goes on.
Adding to the excitement of tackling the Baja 1000, The Laughlin Tourism Commission has jumped on board to help us with our cause. Laughlin, the small gambling town located 90 miles south of Las Vegas hosts 9 casinos on the Beautiful Colorado River, attracting over 4 million visitors throughout the year. Laughlin joins JETJOC, Tri-state CareFlight and Wide Open MRI as our growing list of sponsors for this event. Tony Tellier, the leader of the Off Road group “The Cheeze” has also thrown in support along with Noah Ostanik, a good friend and disgruntled San Diego Chargers fan. If that’s not enough, Ironclad Gloves Founder and CMO Ed Jaeger will be co-riding the first 200 miles in the TTK as we test his gloves and apparel to once again prove they are “Baja tough”.
Testing begins on Saturday, November 7th in the surrounding area so we can tune in the shocks, adjust lights and check the car over. Erin Bryant from Turn two TV productions will be out filming so he can put together a video after the Baja 1000. I’d like to give out a big thanks to all that have helped us this year and who have stepped up to help us race the Baja 1000 which is a HUGE undertaking. All the Sponsors you see to the left have been more than gracious this year and we truly would not have been able to do this or achieve the success we have had without their support.
