Winning Will Be Main Focus For McMillin Racing In 2016
Instead of running for a championship in 2016, McMillin Racing will be running select events in both the Best In The Desert series stateside, and the SCORE International series south of the border with race wins as their goal. Sponsors for the #23 and #83 McMillin Racing Trophy Trucks, DLM Properties, BFGoodrich Tires, King Racing Shocks, Maxima Racing Oils, and Baja Designs are joined by Method Race Wheels and Walker Industries. Impact By Mastercraft Safety has also joined with McMillin Racing for 2016 and 2017.
“We had a really good season last year,” says driver of the #83, Luke McMillin, “We led almost every race we entered and had many podium finishes. We are going to the biggest events this year; we want to compete with the best teams at the most challenging races. We have made some changes to the truck, specifically when it comes to weight.
We are focused on keeping the truck as simple and as light weight as possible. With that in mind, I am extremely happy to have Method Race Wheels on our team this year, they are the lightest and strongest wheel; that will really help reduce unsprung weight. Walker Industries has also been a huge asset when it comes to weight savings. We will debut a brand new full Carbon Fiber body that saves almost 80 pounds and is even stronger than our old fiberglass body. Walker Industries worked with us to incorporate the styling we were looking for in the new design.
Not only is it much stronger but with the new styling and custom paint by Rad Design it looks stunning. Trophy Truck #83 is lighter, stronger, and faster. I am confident we will win some races this year!”
Luke will be applying the wealth of knowledge they gained last season. For Brother Dan, it will be a learning curve as he is campaigning a brand new truck. There is much to learn when finding the limits of a brand new vehicle. Dan will have the decades of know how built into the new Racer Engineering chassis and the peace of mind knowing he has the best safety equipment in the business from Impact Racing.
“The new truck is the first of the new Racer Trophy Trucks,” said Dan, “It’s got characteristics of both the bigger and smaller Racer trucks they build. It runs a Kroyer Racing Engines package (engine & drivetrain), has electronics by James Lin Motorsports and was built by Racer Engineering and McMillin Racing. The Kroyer, Ford measure 454 cubic inches and puts out 600 horsepower and 500 ft. /lbs. of torque. With King Shocks, Brembo brakes, BFGoodrich KR2 Tires, and Method Race Wheels, in a 6000lb package, it’s a rocket!
With our first race at the Parker 425 starting later in the day, we will be able to test our Baja Designs lighting after the sun goes down and get some practice filling the Harmon, 100 gallon fuel cell during the heat of competition.
Both trucks will be tested on the Parker 425 course this Saturday but during qualifying for the race the #83 was 7th overall and the #23 took the 17th overall position.

About Dan McMilln / TT #23
Dan McMillin has been driving offroad vehicles since a very young age. At 27 years old, he has already been racing competitively for over a decade. He won his first race ever, driving a 1600 buggy, and has since worked his way up to the premiere class in the SCORE series, Trophy Truck. A calculating and controlled driving style has allowed Dan to finish every Baja 1000 he has entered from his earliest days in a 1600 buggy, driving an unlimited class one car, and in his Trophy Truck. Dan is building a solid reputation as a top contender in the Trophy Truck class and has a special competitive streak when it comes to racing against his younger Brother Luke who is also behind the wheel of a Trophy Truck this season.

About Luke McMilln / TT #83
Luke McMillin has been around offroad cars his entire life. Having mentors like his father Mark, a five time overall winner of the Baja 1000, and Grandfather Corky, has given Luke great insight at only 22 years of age. He began racing in the 1600 limited buggy class, where he finished consistently on the podium. In 2010, he won the 1600 class championship in the SCORE series. He backed it up with a second straight championship in 2011; winning both the Baja 500 and Baja 1000. In 2012, Luke moved up into an unlimited class one car in the SCORE series. He won all three Baja races, the San Felipe 250, the Baja 500, and the Baja 1000. In 2015, Luke is competing against a highly competitive field, including his Brother Dan, in the Trophy Truck class.
