WRC changes Points Rule

Just days before the season start of the WRC 2010 Season the FIA implemented a new points system.

Following the 1st race of the season we have to reconsider the way we keep track of points in the Word Rally Championship Series. The FIA announced today the change just days before Rally Sweden.

Under the old ruling only the Top 8 finishers get points but now that list got expanded by 2. Starting now the top 10 finishers of any WRC rally will get scored. The new points assignment is as followes:

  • 01. finisher: 25 points
  • 02. finisher: 18 points
  • 03. finisher: 15 points
  • 04. finisher: 12 points
  • 05. finisher: 10 points
  • 06. finisher: 8 points
  • 07. finisher: 6 points
  • 08. finisher: 4 points
  • 09. finisher: 2 points
  • 10. finisher: 1 points

We applied the new rules to the last season and the final season end result did not change.
