50 is a good limit for all classes, enough tonkeep everyone in class satisfied and leaves just enough spaces to make sure everyone who wants to race can?

Since there are 4 classes of UTV, then we would "limit" it to 200 UTV's? Or are you suggesting that all 4 UTV classes total 50 entries? Then we do 50 open wheel and 50 trucks for a total of150 entries at a race?

Only one UTV class was over 50 entries. It is also the largest class entered in the race with 69 entries in UTV Pro Turbo.

So 463 vehicles were in the draw. We know that many will never make the start but it looks like this will be one heck of a race. See you all in 2 weeks!!

Was suggesting all vehicle types capped at 50 but it doesnt make sense with the data you just gave so nvm

But that's not what you posted...

They should consider capping utv entries at 50 maybe
I get many car and truck racers are tweaked about the popularity of golf carts but many in this market consider it a better option particularly for sportsman. Embrace them. They are good for the sport.

Maybe not a cap, but how about a minimum.

Every class should get 75% of it's previous years entry spots guaranteed up to a certain deadline. After that deadline, any unclaimed spots in that class should be opened up to anyone in any class on a waiting list (in order of post-marked entry date). This guarantees a fair balance of entries instead of top-loading certain classes.

Here's an idea:

Wed: Tech/contingency for Unlimited Classes (typically bigger budget teams who can take more time off)
Thurs: Tech/contingency for Limited Classes and UTV's
Fri: Limited Class race (currently morning heat)
Saturday morning: UTV's only (2 laps - allows earlier start time for Unlimited Classes)
Saturday afternoon: Unlimited Classes (currently afternoon heat)

Is this doable?

How about having your act together as a team and understand that it is the MINT 400 ( kind of a BIG DEAL!!! )
and get your entry in in a timely manner. We missed out and sent ours in mid-January. We are not complaining...
We were coming from Illinois with rooms and flights booked!
Next year we will be ready.
